24On May 24 Botev Academy celebrates the Bulgarian Education and Culture, and Slavonic Literature Day. Everyone is welcome!

What do we know about this exclusive holiday?

The First Bulgarian Kingdom was ruled by King Boris I who was an exceptional diplomat. Despite being divided ethnically, linguistically and culturally, and waging wars on every frontier with varying success, the country flourished. The king baptized the Bulgarian population and sheltered the students of Cyril and Methodius who were banished from Great Moravia. They arrived in Bulgaria in 886, founded the Preslav Literary School and began their academic activities which today extend to over 300 million people from 26 nations, and only 8 of them are Slavic.
