HRISTO BOTEV ACADEMY LEGAL DISCLAIMER

The school mission is to teach Bulgarian and other European languages within the Bulgarian community in the great Washington DC area and promote Eastern European culture in the US.

Purpose

(a) The School shall provide pre-school, elementary, secondary and high school education for children and adults without discrimination in race, gender or nationality in the Bulgarian language, Bulgarian and American history, Science, Geography, Natural Sciences, and more in accordance with the principles prescribed by the Board of Directors and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Bulgaria.

(b) The School shall organize and offer various cultural events to promote the European culture.

(c) The School shall grant diplomas to those students who have successfully completed the course.

Tuition

The School will charge tuition and other fees.

Powers

The School shall have the power to accept, hold, use, and dispose of any legal donations including real and personal property, whether given to it absolutely or in trust, for the purposes of the School.

Governance

(a) The Board of Directors is the highest authority governing the School and its operations.Membership
(b) All accepted students with current tuition status, their parents, teachers, administrative personnel and Board of Directors members are considered members of the School.

Indemnification

Neither the Directors nor the officers of the School shall be personally liable for its debts, obligations or liabilities. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the School shall indemnify and hold harmless each Board member and officer and any former Board member or officer against any and all claims, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys’ fees, judgments, and amounts paid in settlement) actually and reasonably incurred and arising from any threatened, pending, or completed action, suit or proceeding, whether civil, criminal, administrative, or investigative, to which any such person shall have become subject by reason of having held such a position or having allegedly taken or omitted to take any action in connection with any such position. However, the foregoing shall not apply to (1) any person’s breach of such person’s duty of loyalty to the School, (2) any act or omission by such person not in good faith or which involved intentional misconduct or a knowing violation of law, or (3) any transaction from which such person derives an improper personal benefit. Such indemnification shall not be exclusive of any other rights to which such person may be entitled under applicable law, the Articles of Incorporation or any bylaw, agreement, vote of the Board, or otherwise.

Discrimination

In administering its affairs, the School shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, creed, ancestry, color, national origin, religion, ethnic origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status or disability.

 

Security of Personal Data

In order to conduct business and enroll students the school will collect personal information, such as names, addresses and phone numbers. The personal data will be stored in a secure SQL database maintained by Worldpress.com. The school shall not assume any liability should the security of the SQL database be breached and the personal data obtained by unauthorized individuals or organizations.
